Darwin real estate agent and local Darwin business identity, Peter Kafkas along with Adam Hayes & Jody Hayes, were only a few agents to have the opportunity to meet international movie star, Arnold Schwarzenegger at a vip event. Overall the summit was attended by more than a thousand people in the real estate industry.
He’s a former governor of California and star of the silver screen, but did you know Arnold Schwarzenegger is also a property investment enthusiast?
“I made my first million in real estate, not in movies,” the former bodybuilding champ told a real estate agents’ summit in Brisbane last week.
While Australians have recently seen Schwarzenegger grace their televisions screens as the face of RealEstate.com.au’s latest advertising campaign, the Courier Mail reports Schwarzenegger held the audience at the Queensland Real Estate Agents’ Summit 2015 captive with the story of how he built his wealth through property.
This event was hosted by Glenn Twiddle – Real Estate Training and attended by real estate agents, experts and trainers from around the world. Some of those experts included Josh Altman from Million Dollar Listing LA, Tom Carlin and Chris Gilmour to name a few.
Possibly the most famous (many would say NOTORIOUS) real estate agents on the planet, Josh Altman, star of TV’s Million Dollar Listing on the left below.
Here’s Schwarzenegger’s six tips and how they will helped Darwin Real Estate identity Peter Kafkas fulfil his dream of becoming an outright industry leader in his field.
1. Have a vision
Peter Kafkas says Schwarzenegger’s first tip is about trusting yourself and having a vision.
Kafkas own vision was to meet Schwarzenegger – his “idol from childhood” – to hear him speak at an event and rub shoulders with best agents in the world.
2. Don’t listen to the naysayers
Kafkas says Schwarzenegger told the summit there will always be people who don’t believe in your idea, whether in the public arena or your personal life, but you won’t achieve your goal if you always believe your critics.
3. Think big
Kafkas says making the event at no matter the cost is also an example of Schwarzenegger’s third rule – to think big. Attracting once of the world’s top celebrities to a real estate conference in Brisbane to speak to and meet the man was an ambitious goal, but one that Kafkas pulled off.
4. Work hard
Schwarzenegger told the room there is no substitute for hard work when it comes to achieving your goals.
5. Don’t have a Plan B
Kafkas says Schwarzenegger believes people who always have a Plan B or backup plan are in some ways becoming their own naysayer.
For his part, Kafkas says I was told the fun themed videos we do to sell property are unprofessional and would ruin my reputation. There was no plan B
6. Give something back
Kafkas admits Schwarzenegger’s sixth tip is something he is proud of – giving something back to the community.
During his seven years as governor of California, Schwarzenegger did not take a wage, instead choosing to give his salary of hundreds of thousands of dollars back to the state.
“It was his way of giving something back,” Kafkas says.
