For a while now realestate.com.au have had a link to virtual tours but you may start noticing they now say ‘3D Tour’. That’s because of the emergence of new 3D photographic scanning technologies and the push towards virtual reality. REA is behind the latest in 3D tour technology for real estate marketing with their R&D division activity experimenting with 3D scanning devices.
In another NT 1st iProperty NT’s Peter Kafkas in conjunction with Realistic Views Photography launched the 3D tours this week and the response has been overwhelming! Imagine coming to one of our open home straight from your living room….
So what are 3D tours and how does it differ from the old 360 panoramic tours? With the aid of expensive professional 3D photographic scanning equipment, photographers can scan an entire space and convert it into a full interactive 3D model. These allow a user to rotate and view the model at any angle before stepping into it and ‘walking’ around the model at eye level.
REA have made some important improvements on their desktop site to now include embedded 3D tour viewers on listings similar to how you would view a video.
Clicking on the ‘View 3D tour’ tile or button will open the 3D tour in a window allowing you to have a ‘virtual inspection’ of the property.
